The AFCA Coaches’ Trophy, presented by Amway – The Symbol of Supremacy in College Football™, will once again this season be part of a Trophy Tour to high profile games in search of the next Football Bowl Subdivision national champion, beginning with defending champion Ohio State vs. Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. on Sept. 7, 2015, and Oklahoma vs. Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., on Sept. 12, 2015.
In all, the AFCA Coaches’ Trophy, presented by Amway, will be making a tour of 10 marquee college football games during the 2015 season. In each city, the trophy will appear on the sidelines during the game, and will make appearances at fan-fests, where fans will have the opportunity to pose for photos with the trophy. Fans can now follow the tour on social media at www.facebook.com/CoachesTrophy, on Twitter @CoachesTrophy, and on Instagram at www.instagram.com/CoachesTrophy.
The Trophy Tour has once again been made possible because of the AFCA’s partnership with leading direct seller Amway. Announced prior to last season, Amway partnered with AFCA and USA TODAY Sports Media Group to be the title sponsor of the Amway Coaches Poll, formerly the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, and the presenting sponsor of the AFCA Coaches’ Trophy.
The AFCA Coaches’ Trophy and the Waterford Crystal football will continue to be awarded to the No. 1-ranked national championship team in the Amway Coaches Poll at the culmination of the college football season. The presentation will take place at the No. 1 ranked school following the completion of the season in association with Amway and the AFCA.
“The AFCA Coaches’ Trophy has been the Symbol of Supremacy in College Football for almost 30 years, and it is the one trophy that the coaches, student-athletes and fans truly recognize for winning a national championship,” AFCA Executive Director Grant Teaff said. “With our partnership with Amway and USA Today Sports Group, the Crystal Ball will be seen and appreciated by many more college football fans with another successful trophy tour across our great nation in 2015.”
